Authority: why other sites vouching for you matters
Links and citations, earned on purpose.
Trust you cannot fake
Google treats a link from a real, relevant site as a vote of confidence. Authority is what separates two otherwise-equal pages, and it is the hardest lever for a competitor to copy overnight.
You build it deliberately, not by buying junk links:
- Digital PR. Real stories tied to real events, distributed to real outlets.
- Citations. Consistent name, address, and phone across directories, which anchors local trust.
- Relationships. Partnerships and mentions that happen because the work is genuinely worth talking about.
Slow, then all at once
Authority is the lever with the longest lag and the biggest payoff. It is why SEO compounds: the rankings you earn get easier to defend as your authority grows.
