Installing the Plugin
Get Vibe SEO onto your WordPress site.
What installing the plugin means
Vibe SEO is a WordPress plugin, so it lives inside your own website's admin area. When you signed up you received two things that work together. The first is the plugin file itself, a single zip you upload to WordPress. The second is your access code, a short key that unlocks the plugin once it is installed. This lesson covers getting that file onto your site and turning it on. Entering the code to unlock everything is the last step here, and the full business setup wizard comes in a later lesson.
The whole process takes a couple of minutes and does not require a developer.
Before you start
You need admin access to your WordPress site, specifically an account that can add plugins. Vibe SEO requires WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. Most modern hosting already meets both, so you rarely need to check. Keep your welcome email handy, or be ready to log in to your account at vibeseo.com, because that is where both the download and your access code live.
Step 1: Download the plugin
There are two places to get the file, and both give you the same thing.
The quickest is your welcome email. When you subscribed, Vibe SEO emailed you a message titled "Welcome to Vibe SEO" with a blue Download Vibe SEO button and your access code printed right below it. Click that button.
You can also get it from your account. Log in at vibeseo.com and open your customer dashboard. Under Your products you will see a Vibe SEO Plugin card with a Download button, along with a table of your access keys, each with a Copy button. This is handy if you ever lose the email or need the file again.
Either way, your browser downloads a single zip file named something like vibe-seo-1.38.35.zip. The number is just the current version. Do not unzip it. WordPress wants the zip exactly as it downloaded.
One note: downloads are tied to an active subscription. If your subscription has lapsed, the download will refuse with a message that the subscription is not active.
Step 2: Upload and install in WordPress
Now move that file into your site.
- Log in to your WordPress admin, usually at yoursite.com/wp-admin.
- In the left sidebar go to Plugins, then Add New, then click Upload Plugin at the top.
- Click Choose File and select the zip you just downloaded.
- Click Install Now.
- When it finishes, click Activate.
That is the entire installation. WordPress unpacks the file and switches the plugin on.
Step 3: Open Vibe SEO and enter your access code
After you activate, a new Vibe SEO item appears in your left sidebar. On a brand new install the plugin starts locked, so that menu opens straight to the Access key screen. This is expected, not an error. Until a valid key is on file, the other Vibe SEO menus stay hidden.
On that screen you will see an Access key field with placeholder text shaped like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Paste the code from your welcome email, or copy it from your account dashboard. Tick the box to accept the terms, then click Validate and activate.
If the key is good, the status badge turns green and reads Active, and the rest of Vibe SEO unlocks. You will then see a prompt to finish the setup wizard, which is where you enter your business details. That is the next lesson.
What a good result looks like
You know installation worked when three things are true. A Vibe SEO menu sits in your left admin sidebar. The Access key status shows a green Active badge. The plugin invites you to continue to the setup wizard, and the previously hidden menus are now visible.
Pro tips and common mistakes
You only upload the zip once. After this first install, new versions arrive automatically through the normal WordPress Dashboard, then Updates screen. You never have to download and re-upload a zip to update.
Do not unzip the download before uploading. The Upload Plugin screen expects the zip file.
One access key belongs to one website. If you see a message that the access key belongs to a different website, that key is already tied to another domain. Get the correct key from your account, where you can also reassign a key to a new site.
Save your welcome email. If you ever reinstall on a fresh site, you will need that same access code to unlock the plugin again.
