Activating Your Access Key

Enter your key and unlock the plugin on your site.

Activating Your Access Key

Your access key is what turns Vibe SEO on for your website. When you subscribed at vibeseo.com, we emailed you a key that looks something like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Until you paste that key into your site and it checks out, every Vibe SEO menu except Settings stays hidden. This lesson walks you through entering the key, confirming it worked, and understanding what the plugin shows you afterward.

Why this comes first

Vibe SEO runs on your WordPress site, but your subscription lives on our server. The access key is the link between the two. Entering it does two things at once: it proves your site is allowed to use the paid tools, and it unlocks the rest of the plugin so you can run the setup wizard and start working. One key works on one website only. If you ever move to a new domain, you contact support to have it re-issued rather than reusing the same key somewhere else.

Where to enter your key

Log in to your WordPress admin and look for Vibe SEO in the left sidebar. On a brand-new install the sidebar is intentionally short: the only Vibe SEO page you can reach is Settings. That is by design, so open Vibe SEO and go to Settings.

At the top of the Settings page you will see a card titled Access key. Next to the title is a small status pill. Before you have entered anything it reads Not entered in yellow.

Inside the card:

  • A field labeled Access key. Paste your key here. The box uses a XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX placeholder to show the expected shape.
  • A checkbox to confirm you have read and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Both are linked right there so you can open them in a new tab.
  • A button labeled Validate & activate.

Paste the key, tick the checkbox, and click Validate & activate.

What happens when you click

Your site sends the key to vibeseo.com and asks the server to redeem it. If the key is valid and not already tied to another site, the server activates it, your site saves the key locally, and it immediately runs a check to confirm the subscription is active. You will see a success message telling you the key validated and that the rest of Vibe SEO is now unlocked, with a nudge to continue in the setup wizard.

Two things happen in the same moment. The full Vibe SEO menu appears in the sidebar on the next page load, and your acceptance of the Terms and Privacy Policy is recorded against your login as a timestamped record.

How to tell it worked

The clearest signal is the status pill on the Access key card. Once the key is active it turns green and reads Valid & active. The card also switches to a summary view showing your current key, when it was last checked (for example, a few seconds ago), and a status message. The second sign is that the rest of the Vibe SEO sidebar and its tools are now visible where before there was only Settings.

From this summary view you get two more buttons. Re-validate against vibeseo.com forces a fresh check on demand, which is handy if your status changed on our end. Clear key removes the key and locks the plugin again, so only use it if you genuinely want to disconnect this site.

Common mistakes and pro tips

If the key box is empty when you submit, you will be told to paste your access key first. If you skip the checkbox, you will be told you must accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Both are quick fixes.

A mistyped or wrong key comes back as Invalid access code. A key that has been turned off shows as revoked. If the key was already activated on a different website, the plugin says so and names the site it is tied to, because each key is one site only. In that case, or if you see the orange box that says the key belongs to a different website, email support from the address you subscribed with, mention your old and new web addresses, and we will re-issue the key for the new domain.

One reassuring detail: if vibeseo.com is briefly unreachable when your site tries to check in, Vibe SEO keeps working on its last known status rather than locking you out. The card will note that the server was unreachable on the last attempt and that outages will not cost you access. After that, your site quietly re-checks the key once a day on its own, so once you are activated you rarely need to touch this page again.
