Getting Cited by AI (AEO)
How Vibe positions you to be named in AI answers.
Getting Cited by AI (AEO)
When someone asks Google AI Overviews or ChatGPT "who is the best roofer in Fort Worth," the answer is assembled from sources the machine can read and trust. AEO, or answer engine optimization, is the work of making your business one of those sources. The lever Vibe SEO gives you is structured data. It writes a clean, machine readable description of your business into every page so search engines and AI answers know exactly who you are, what you do, where you work, and what you are an authority on. This is the Schema tool.
What Vibe actually does
Vibe emits one JSON-LD @graph in the head of every front-end page. That single block describes your business as connected nodes: a WebPage, an Organization, your business node (LocalBusiness or a more specific type), a WebSite, your rating, your reviews, and your FAQ. On individual pages Vibe also adds the right contextual block automatically. Blog posts get BlogPosting, service pages get Service, "how to" posts get HowTo, WooCommerce items get Product, and any page with real question and answer content gets a FAQPage. You do not hand-write any of this. It builds from your Setup profile plus the fields on the Schema page.
Where it lives
In WordPress admin, open Vibe SEO and click the Schema tab. Confirm Enable is checked so JSON-LD renders on every page.
The workflow, step by step
-
Set the primary
@type. Pick the most specific match for your business, for example RoofingContractor rather than the generic Local Business. Google indexes the specific type. Add secondary types under Additional @types if more than one fits. -
Fill Identity. Your business name, phone, and address prefill from Setup. Add a slogan, a description (leave it blank to auto-compose one from your name, industry, and service area), a logo URL, hero images, brand, founder, and founding date.
-
Set Location and contact. Add geo coordinates and a hasMap link to your Google Maps pin. Set the coordinates even if you are a service-area business, because Google uses them to anchor your location. Use Area served for the cities you cover.
-
Add Business details. Price range, payment methods, and opening hours all feed the local business node.
-
Fill Knows about. This is the core AEO field. List the topics and keywords you are authoritative on, one per line, for example "Hail damage roofing" or "Insurance roofing claims." Vibe emits these as a
knowsAboutarray, which is how Google maps your business to the questions people ask. -
Add Social profiles. Each URL becomes part of your
sameAslist, which confirms your identity across the web. -
Choose an FAQ page. This is the strongest single lever for getting quoted. Pick a WordPress page that holds real question and answer content. Vibe auto-extracts the pairs from Yoast FAQ blocks, HTML
<details>blocks, or H2 and H3 headings that end in a question mark, then emits them as a FAQPage linked to your WebPage. Answer-style content is exactly what AI engines lift and quote back to users. -
Wire up your rating. The recommended path is Live from Google. Enter your Google Place ID and a Places API key, and Vibe pulls your live star rating and review count straight from Google so the schema never goes stale. If you do not have a key, enter the rating and review count manually.
-
Click Save Schema.
-
Validate. Use the Live preview to see the exact JSON-LD, then click Test in Google to run the Rich Results Test and Validate at schema.org to confirm the code parses. Test a live URL after saving, not before.
What a good result looks like
Run the free site scan and check the AI readiness section. Four checks matter there. Structured data should pass, meaning JSON-LD is present. FAQ or Q&A markup should pass, which flags you as a strong candidate for AI answers. Local business identity should pass so a machine can tell what you are and where. Content structure should pass, meaning the page has at least two section headings that AI engines can lift answers from. A good setup shows all four green, a populated knowsAbout list, a live rating, and a real FAQPage.
Pro tips and common mistakes
Never run two schema sources at once. If a plugin like Yoast or Rank Math is also emitting JSON-LD, Vibe warns you. Either turn off schema in that plugin and let Vibe be the source of truth, or check Defer to competing SEO plugin. To force a single clean graph, turn on "Let Vibe be the only schema source" and Vibe strips any foreign JSON-LD from code snippets, themes, or baked-in page content. Vibe also scans your live site for conflicting schema and tells you how many outside blocks it found.
Do not skip the FAQ page. Without real question and answer pairs, there is no FAQPage block, and Vibe will not invent one. Give it a page where the questions actually end in a question mark. Finally, always validate a live URL after saving, because the validators fetch and render the real page, not the preview.
